In the past few years, a very big buzzword on many products is “going green” or “eco-friendly”. That includes on many Optx 20/20 products. But what exactly do these terms really mean?
Eco-friendly literally means earth-friendly or not harmful to the environment. More commonly the term refers to products that contribute to green living or practices that help conserve resources like water and energy. Eco-friendly also help with unwanted contributions to the air, water and/or land pollution.
So what makes a product truly eco (or green) friendly? Here are a few attributes:
- They are non-toxic
- They are made using natural grown ingredients without the need for pesticides or herbicides.
In contrast, materials made from recycled materials contain various materials (wood, glass, metal, etc) that take waste products and are made into something new.
Biodegradable products, another commonly used term in the “green space”, are products that are able to break down via natural decomposition. These products put less stress on landfills and the eco-system.
Many of the Optx 20/20 products including the EcoClear Symphony frames and EcoClear Wildflower frames are made with a combination of recycled and natural plant based materials. That means when you purchase them, you not only will see better but will also be participating in helping keep our world healthier for future generations.
