With it being 2016, there is a lot of technology out there and a lot of new options for beating Presbyopia or age-related vision loss.
Sometimes technology though isn’t always the best option. Here are a few reasons why:
The Health Risk
With any type of surgery, including Conductive Keratoplasty (CK) surgery, there is a risk of possibly doing more damage to your eyes then good and even the potential of blindness. In addition, this type of procedure doesn’t just work after one visit and more than likely needs to be repeated for its best results. That could be really time consuming!
The Frustration & Pain Factor
Another option to fix age-related vision loss is with a single contact lens. With this, one eye is used for distance and the other eye focuses on close-up vision. This new way of seeing could take some time to adjust and become extremely frustrating and strange for the viewer. It also could lead to dizziness and bad head aches.
The Cost Factor
All the above options could become very expensive and in many cases isn’t covered by insurance. That includes a new procedure called “lensectomy” where the natural lens is removed and replaced with an artificial one.
Still with all this technology, you can’t go wrong with a simple pair of reading glasses. They are a much more safer and affordable option then the above alternatives. In addition, they now come in various stylish ways that will add to your fashion statement.
